Senior programme manager, DIPECHO, Bangladesh

More than half the world lives in poverty. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and we believe that vision can become a reality. We are striving to bring lasting change to the lives of the poorest communities. We work wherever there is great need, helping people to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion, caste or creed. If you’re passionate about positive change across the world, then this job might be for you.
Christian Aid is working with its partners in Bangladesh to achieve its goal of ending poverty. We are committed to expose scandal of poverty and to help in practical ways through our programme, partnerships, campaign and advocacy to root it out from the world. We work with our partners to challenge and change a system that favours the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalized.
We are looking for a person who is already working in international development with another international organisation as a manager or within a team as a specialist in a similar area – you’ll see this as an excellent opportunity to manage and lead strategic programing and multi-stakeholder partnership on Disaster Risk Reduction in the mutli-hazard climate change affected context of Bangladesh. The Programme Manager for Christian Aid’s Bangladesh country office will be responsible for effective delivery of the DIPECHO project under the DeSHARI consortium which comprises ACF, Christian Aid, Dan Church Aid, Muslim Aid and Save the Children. The Programme Manager will play a key role on delivery of project outcomes in close coordination with the Deputy Programme Manager, implementing partner and other consortium members. He/she will be responsible for managing effective partnership with the relevant stakeholders and maintaining close collaboration with the implementing partner of the project. He/she will manage specific programme strategies and activities to achieve the objectives stated in the project document consistent with the strategic direction of Christian Aid in Bangladesh, thereby making a major contribution to the development and articulation of Christian Aid Bangladesh Office’s strategic humanitarian objective.
We are looking for candidate having a high level of commitment to bringing transformational change in the lives of poor and disaster affected communities. The incumbent is expected to possess a post graduate degree in a Disaster Management or a development related discipline, with substantial and relevant programme management experience, including finance management of projects and programmes in the field of disaster risk reduction or disaster preparedness. Other essentials are experience of implementing programmes through a partnership approach; good knowledge of managing the institutional donors supported programme of DIPECHO/ECHO; experience in programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation; training and capacity building, excellent IT skills and language skills in English.
