Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, is both the forum and the voice of the European chemical industry. It aims at maintaining and developing a prosperous chemical industry in Europe by promoting the best possible economic, social and environmental conditions to bring benefits to society. 

Cefic is located in Brussels, and employs more than 150 persons. 

To reinforce one of its departments, Cefic is actively looking for a (M/F) Manager Energy & Climate Policy.

In charge of managing the energy and climate issues for other teams and sector groups within Cefic, you will:

  1. Monitor the issue teams regarding EU-ETS, energy efficiency, renewable energy and market liberalisation;
  2. Defend Cefic’s position at European institutions and creating a Brussels network through a variety of activities in the field of advocacy and communication;
  3. Take up stakeholder role at diverse European government bodies e.g. European Commission;
  4. Network with other industry associations and relevant stakeholders; 
  5. Contribute to position papers, research proposals for energy and climate issues.

Background and experience

  • A Master degree in chemistry or solid knowledge of energy industry is required;
  • Min. 10 years of experience in major, multinational organisations in either – or both – chemical industry or association management with a diverse and proven track record;
  • Proven successful experience in advocacy, communication, public relations; experience within energy or related industry is a plus.

Skills and competencies

  • Multilingual skills, with fluency (both in writing and in speaking) in English and at least one other major European language;
  • Excellent oral and written communication;
  • Strong advocacy skills and consensus builder;
  • Good project management and computer skills;
  • Excellent people management, networking and negotiation skills;
  • Proactive team player with strong service focus.
