Trainee to support our Evaluation Department

We are currently looking for a TRAINEE to support our Evaluation Department. An “evaluation” consists of assessing the relevance, results, impact, efficiency and sustainability of a policy or programme. A large proportion of the evaluations conducted by the Department concern donor intervention strategies in the field of development cooperation, in a variety of sectors and countries. The Evaluation Department also continuously develops own methodologies and tools for conducting such evaluations. 
Recent examples of our work include the following:
  • Evaluation of EU Microfinance Programme for African, Caribbean and Pacific countries
  • Evaluation of EU support to Private Sector Development in Third Countries
  • Evaluation of EU Support to Conflict Prevention and Peace Building
  • Impact Evaluation of 4 projects of the Belgian Cooperation
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate to the evaluation studies conducted by ADE, in particular for:
        o    Data collection
        o    Quantitative and qualitative research and analysis;
  • Active research support on different evaluations;
  • Contributing to other ADE activities, including support to proposal writing and general business development (general or more occasional strategic research)
PROFILE
MAIN SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Currently studying for a university degree preferably in Economics or Finance
  • Outstanding academic records
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Strong capabilities in qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
  • Strong writing and presentation skills;
  • Strong organisational and planning skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams;
  • Very good command of the main computer software packages (Word, PPT and Excel).
  • An excellent level of written and spoken French and English;
WOULD BE AN ASSET: 
  • Experience in evaluation of public policies or research programmes;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of EU institutions and key EU policies, and of development cooperation issues;
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, E-views, Stata) or survey tools;
  • Knowledge of another EU language.
