French Text Regrouping Specialist

The Secretariat of the WTO is seeking to fill the position of French Text Regrouping Specialist in the Languages, Documentation and Information Management Division. Serving staff members interested in the position are also invited to apply.

General Functions

Under the supervision of the French Coordinator, the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:

1. Regrouping parts of large and complex documents prepared separately into a consolidated whole document or document section and signing off on accuracy of document prior to review by the Text Processing Reviser.

2. Checking large and small documents prepared by others, inserts corrections and approves accuracy of product.

3. Typing documents using personal computers including copy typing; transcribing from digital and analogue recordings; preparation of complex tables and graphics; formatting including sections in landscape format with complex header requirements such as first and odd/even page differences and finalization (incorporating translator's and reviser's and other corrections into text) of large and small documents.

4. Occasional quality control of documents when necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Completion of secondary school and/or secretarial or equivalent commercial school. Passage of the Text Processing Operator I qualifications test.
Knowledge:

Specialized training and proven expertise in document formatting and regrouping. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft WORD. Ability to operate Dictaphones and digital dictation machines.
Work Experience:

A minimum of five years of experience in the occupational area.
Languages:

The work requires an excellent knowledge of French including an expert knowledge of grammar and spelling in order to ensure the production of document-perfect texts and a good knowledge of English or Spanish. Some knowledge of a third working language is desirable.
Additional Information:

The position may be offered at a lower grade if the selected candidate does not fully meet all the required qualifications.
