Global Network Services (GNS), a department of Nokia Cloud Computing Operations & Delivery, is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operations of a massively scalable service infrastructure with world class availability, quality, reliability and efficiency, which serves hundreds of millions of consumers in markets around the globe.
The operations arm of GNS - Global Network Operations (GNO) - is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join us as a Network Quality Engineer. GNO is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the security, availability, and performance of large-scale networking infrastructure within our data centers worldwide.

This role is ideal for a creative and quality-focused network professional that can reinforce operational stability by detecting configuration and firmware anomalies that threaten network performance or stability, and create and manage efforts to remediate those deficiencies.
The engineer's efforts will be invested in working with vendors to identify, test, and implement new firmware versions; coordinating replacement of defective hardware; reviewing and planning for correction of inconsistent configurations; and developing, vetting, and maintaining approved configuration templates.
Responsibilities
· Collect configuration and hardware information manually or using automated tools
· Provide support for problem investigations catalyzed by network outages or impairment, including review/comparing configurations and working with vendors to identify/qualify potential software defects and remediation procedures
· Work with Network Operations engineers to plan, communicate, schedule, and implement upgrades or configuration changes required to maintain standards and address defects
· Ensure that incidents are investigated, diagnosed, and resolved with priority.
· Practice strict adherence to change management process and required documentation standards
· Create, monitor, update, and correct documentation regarding current environment and configuration elements
· Continuous Service Improvement - identify and propose creative solutions for more efficient systems and processes to provide more reliable or effective support.
· Identify and assess suboptimal configurations or conditions discovered in the course of normal business; own the prioritization, development, and implementation of fixes for same.
· Provide technical advice and expertise to management, customers, and colleagues
· Working outside of normal business hours to accommodate risky maintenance during periods of low impact, or to satisfy requests under tight timetables. This includes rare weekend work.

Qualifications

A successful candidate for this job will have extensive experience in datacenter LAN implementation, operations and support, including expertise in layered network architecture, system design, intra- and inter-domain routing protocols, ancillary network services operations, and security design. Experience managing or executing projects to upgrade or replace critical network hardware.

Technical Qualifications:

· At least two years' experience working as an operations engineer in a large, dynamic organization and networking environment, servicing multiple business units

· Experience validating production changes in a lab environment

· Experience with change management processes and formal documentation

· Network industry certifications preferred, but not required (especially Juniper JunOS, F5 LTM, Cisco Catalyst/Nexus); direct knowledge of a majority of these platforms in lieu of certification acceptable

· Competent practitioner in creation and maintenance of documentation and reports in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Visio
