Senior Security Officer - Product Movement

As a member of the Product Movement Section, the successful candidate will report to the Diamond Security Manager of Petra Diamonds to coordinate, ensure and undertake the effective and secure movement of all shipments for Petra Diamonds SA.

Duties and responsibilities:
Product Movement: Undertake and ensure the secure movement of diamond shipments by:

  • Collecting shipments from relevant sources
  • Delivering shipments to relevant sources
  • Ensuring shipment documentation is checked and complies with standard procedures
  • Ensuring container/trunk details are verified against shipment documentation
  • Ensuring trunks are securely moved between security vehicles, aircraft and vaulting facility
  • Signing over against the relevant shipment documentation of shipments into safekeeping
  • Performing courier duties, both on land and by air
  • Handling and using firearms.

Financial Effectiveness:

  • Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures
  • Recommend and incorporate cost saving initiatives into budgets and control expenditure within approved parameters. Risk Management: Identify, report and/or take remedial action on threats and vulnerabilities to mitigate risk.

Safety, Security and Environmental Effectiveness:

  • Adhere to the company’s environmental management programme
  • Function as a member of a project and coordinate project activities or provide input in terms of projects resource allocation.


Requirements:

  • A Matric or a relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 4 (National Certificate) in Security Management or recognised equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the tactical environment of either Law Enforcement, Security Product or VIP protection, or the military
  • PSIRA registration (Grade B)
  • Firearms competency certification, as required by law, for a handgun, shotgun, rifle and hand machine carbine
  • A Code EB driver’s licence (a Professional Drivers Permit (PDP) would be advantageous)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong administrative ability
  • The ability to work both individually and in a team
  • The ability to do heavy lifting
  • Willingness to travel regularly.

The successful candidate will be subjected to the following assessments and needs to complete these successfully in order to qualify for permanent employment:

  • Integrity testing assessments (polygraph testing, personal vetting)
  • Competency testing (profile ability assessments and firearm assessments)
  • Security clearance
  • Medical clearance.
