Accounts Payable Clerk - Contracts

GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the Accountant, Programs - Audit; this position is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the program accounting division. Basic objectives include the review and maintenance of accounting document files, multiple monthly account reconciliations, and general reporting functions. In addition this position may support a wide range of other duties within the Finance and Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform monthly review of sample of vouchers from across the organization; identifying and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Regular review of the fixed asset records to ensure that all new additions and subtractions are reflected and posted, working with the field office finance teams to resolve any discrepancies timely.
  • Track and maintain the records of Value Added Tax (VAT) where required. Perform reconciliation and reporting per funder requirements.
  • Track and maintain the records of cost-share. Perform monthly reconciliations and record necessary entries and allocations.
  • Filing and organization of financial records to support various audits.
  • Work within the program accounting unit to assist with implementation of audit responses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree, business or accounting emphasis preferred
  • One year of previous related accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
  • Intermediate expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
