Editor/producer for special projects

Skills and experience required:

• Higher education (Western education is desirable);
• At least two years’ experience in an editorial position;
• Experience working with online platforms;
• Understanding of the production, editing, distribution and promotion of online products;
• Conversational and business English, including vocabulary relevant to the media and digital spheres;
• Contacts that can be used for information and stories;
• Knowledge of Internet operating protocols and principles and of methods of working with Microsoft Office, Adobe CS and off-the-shelf CMS;
• Knowledge of fundamentals of Russian and foreign legislation on media and intellectual property;
• Personal qualities: ability to work to tight deadlines, ability to cope with stress, driven and results-oriented, interested in professional development.

Responsibilities:
General

• Recruiting experts to contribute op-eds to the project
• Following up on contacts made by others to obtain content for the project
• Monitoring the Russian press for material that would be suitable for the FP/RBTH channel
• Working with the editor-in-chief and the project manager to develop topics that might be interesting for the project
• Editing written contributions in Russian and making sure they are translated

Online

• Planning updates for the FP/RBTH channel.
• Working with the U.S.-based guest editor to make sure the channel is updated according to a schedule.
• Maintaining a Russian-language Facebook group or page and a Twitter account dedicated to the project
• Engaging with online commentators, encouraging online discussion both on the microsite and social media channels in both English and Russian

Print

• Creating layout of FP/RBTH project printed reports. These reports consist of 
  -7-9 page monthly analytical memos;
  -20-30 page quarterly research project reports.
• Performing both substantive and copy editing of Russian version of reports
• Working with U.S.-based copy editor to place English version of reports
• Making sure print deadlines are met

Terms:

Salary to be determined on an individual basis. Medical insurance, corporate SIM card.
