OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY ANALYST

The Offshore Wind Energy Analyst is responsible for communicating and monitoring latest developments in offshore wind energy technology design and operation and their impacts in the cost of energy. This includes civil, mechanical, electrical and aerodynamic developments in design, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) and decommissioning strategies.
The position will be responsible of managing EWEA networks on offshore wind energy, strengthening and broadening advocacy networks across the EU institutions and promoting and impacting the political processes in this field of specialisation.
Overall, the Offshore Wind Energy Analyst will be leading voice of the offshore wind sector at the EU level.  
Duties and responsibilities
Regulatory Affairs Advisor
  • Identify the relevant internal and external information sources, including
  • internal and external experts
  • Collect technical information in his/her area of expertise in order to develop consistent and irrefutable arguments aimed at implementing effectively EWEA strategy on offshore wind power
  • Write policy positions papers, reports and presentations related to his/her specific areas in line with EWEA strategy
  • Participate in events and perform external presentations to disseminate results to external audiences
  • Develop a yearly plan defining the topics and resources for successful implementation of EWEA strategy on offshore wind in agreement with the Head of Policy Analysis
  • Advise EWEA members on relevant decisions at national and EU level
  • Advocate for the development of stable frameworks favourable to offshore wind power such as maritime spatial planning, industrialisation of supply chain and Europe’s ports and harbours infrastructure
  • Advocate to EU representatives to maintain Europe's technological lead in offshore wind energy and position it as a key solution to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, improve competitiveness and energy security
Communication
Internal interactions
  • The Offshore Wind Power Analyst has regular contact with the Head of Policy Analysis and with his/her colleagues from the Policy department to exchange views and gather information and expertise
  • H/she interacts with the Communication department providing relevant information on offshore wind energy
  • If relevant, h/she has contact with the Events unit to assist with workshops and assist with the participation as panellist to EWEA large and smaller events
External interactions
  • H/she has frequent contact with EWEA members to provide them with industry updates analysis and research activities
  • H/she has also frequent contact with the EU representatives and EU-Funded projects officers to exchange on EWEA activities and projects
  • H/she has contact with international agencies, think tanks, consultancies and research institutions
Education
Master, preferably in Engineering, Science, Environment or Energy
Experience
  • At least one year experience in collecting, analysing data and providing
  • recommendations in an European context, preferably around renewable energy
  • Experience in wind energy, especially offshore wind energy is preferred 
Personal skills
  • Strong technical knowledge on wind energy technologies and operations, preferably in offshore wind
  • Ability to understand technical environment and societal issues related to wind energy
  • Proven analytical skills and problem solving attitude
  • Proven ability to manage complex organisational an political relationships
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Good time management and ability to prioritize
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment
  • Ability to work as a team player as well as independently Self-confidenceµ
Languages
  • English (fluent written and verbal) is mandatory
  • Other languages are an asset to deal with EU representatives
