Program Operations Manager

Contract length: 12 months
The role
The program operations Manager for the Humanitarian Response in Gambella, will be responsible for leading the implementation of Save the Children’s humanitarian response across 2 refugee camps. S/he will lead the coordination of the response, line managing the program officers, as well as the technical staff for Save the Children humanitarian programmes. S/he will work in close collaboration with the Field Office Manager in Pugnido camp.
They will be tasked with advising on, and co-leading the implementation of, the restructuring of the teams in Leitechor and Tierkidi camps to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of our interventions with the budget available. They will be expected to strengthen all areas of the response (management, operations, technical design, etc.) and to make recommendations to the Humanitarian Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) on what support requirements from the Country Office in Addis. S/he will ensure that teams implementhighquality programs at scale that impact positively on the lives of children and other vulnerable refugees and that meet with Save the Children’s Humanitarian Framework, Standard Operating Standards, SPHERE standards and our commitments to donors, UNHCR and the Government of Ethiopia.
Qualifications and experience
* Masters in international development, or related field relevant to Save the Children's program themes/sectors.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior program management, human resource management, including emergency response with an INGO or UN agency.
* Expertise in program operations, grant management and program development.
* Demonstrated experience in managing large and complex humanitarian response programs.
* Excellent analytical writing skills in Eng lish.
* Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience in managing diverse teams of national and international staff are a prerequisite.
* Ability to take personal responsibility for completing tasks to a high standard and to meet deadlines.
* Willingness to work flexibly and professionally in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
* Ability to work in a challenging work environment with minimal direct supervision.
* Functioning language is English, fluency in local language an advantage.
