Senior Project Manager
BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response. As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of the BBC Media Action governance projects in Burma, and potentially other projects as they are secured.
Role Responsibility
You will lead the delivery of BBC Media Action governance and other projects in our expanding Burma office, driving the creative development, editorial direction and production management of multiple projects and their broadcast outputs. You’ll provide editorial leadership and ensure that the specific development objectives of the projects and BBC editorial standards are fully reflected in all output. You will manage at least two national project managers and growing research and outreach teams, building the capacity of national staff members in the process. You will be expected to develop and manage effective relationships with funding agencies, stakeholders and partners as well as with advisors and the wider BBC.
The Ideal Candidate
We need your considerable experience developing and managing complex projects, ideally in the media or development sectors. You’ll have demonstrable commitment to international development, and also experience of working with broadcast production staff. With significant experience in the effective management of diverse teams, including personnel development and capability management, you’ll also have strong financial management skills, including experience of managing large budgets and knowledge of the reporting requirements of funders. You’ll have shown your ability to secure new business, present persuasively to potential partners and write successful proposals.
