Control and Instrument Engineer - Weekend Shift

The planned hours for this part-time role:

Sat 8-4:30, Sun 8-4:30 and would include on call coverage of Sat night



Context/Scope

To fully maintain plant and equipment at any GSS Malt Distilling site in a safe and reliable condition that will enable all site production and efficiency targets to be achieved. This role is to cover for weekend hrs specifically, including on call cover over a Saturday evening through till Sunday morning.
The jobholder will often work alone and must have the ability to plan their own work and make decisions based on their own initiative.
Statutory and Diageo regulations relating to health, safety and environmental issues must be understood and complied with.


Purpose of Role

To ensure the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability.
The role will be based out of Glendullan Engineering Centre in Dufftown.


Top Accountabilities


  • Clearly communicate with appropriate site personnel and plan work to ensure all plant maintenance schedules and any faults reported via the SAP planned maintenance system are completed or repaired to meet the needs of planned production operations.

  • Ensure all such activities are compliant with the relevant statutory and company health and safety requirements.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to plant breakdown situations, analyse, fault find and repair route cause problems to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.

  • Develop and implement maintenance programmes that support and improve asset performance and utilisation.

  • Accurately record and promptly report the outcome of maintenance problems, via the SAP maintenance system, and facilitate the sharing of best practice.



Qualifications and experience required

Qualified as a time served electrician to approved standard with experience of industrial plant maintenance, three phase power, PLC systems, automated control systems and their associated field instrumentation. The jobholder will be production orientated and possess PC skills that allow efficient interrogation of our SAP PM maintenance system.
Knowledge of PLC systems would be advantageous.
An effective team player with the ability to work alone.


Barriers to Success in Role


  • Must be a time served electrician

  • Must be able to drive and possess a current driving licence

  • Must be able to fault find and problem solve using own initiative.
