Maintenance Engineer - Weekend Shift

Planned working hours - Sat 8-4:30, Sun 8-4:30 with on call coverage over Sat night

Context/Scope

As part of the Glendullan Engineering Centre maintenance team the jobholder will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvement of all mechanical assets at any GSS Malt Distilling site. This role is to cover for weekend hrs specifically, including on call cover over a Saturday evening through till Sunday morning.
The jobholder will often work alone and must have the ability to plan their own work and make decisions based on their own initiative.
Statutory and Diageo regulations relating to health, safety and environmental issues must be understood and complied with.

Purpose of Role

To ensure the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability.
The role will be based out of Glendullan Engineering Centre in Dufftown.

Top Accountabilities


  • Ensure SAP planned maintenance tasks are repaired to meet the needs of production operations.

  • Ensure all activities are compliant with the relevant statutory and company health and safety requirements.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to plant breakdown situations, analyse, fault find and repair route cause problems to ensure downtime is minimized.

  • Develop and implement maintenance programmes that support and improve asset performance and utilisation.

  • Accurately record and promptly report the outcome of maintenance problems, via the SAP maintenance system, to facilitate the sharing of best practice.


Qualifications and experience required

Qualified as a time served mechanical engineer with experience of industrial plant maintenance, conveying systems, high pressure steam generation and distribution systems, heat exchange systems and automated control systems. The jobholder will be production orientated and posses PC skills that allow efficient interrogation of SAP PM maintenance system.
An effective team player with the ability to work alone and use own initiative.

Barriers to Success in Role

Must be a time served engineer.
Must be able to drive and possess a clean current driving licence
Must be able to fault find and problem solve using own initiative.
