The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is the world road transport organisation, which upholds the interests of transport operators to ensure economic growth and prosperity via the sustainable mobility of people and goods by road worldwide.
In our rapidly growing and dynamic environment, we are currently seeking:
3 Business Development Consultants for Africa, Middle East and Latin America
The Consultants will lead the expansion of the International Road Transport (TIR) System in each region and will provide the strategic direction to achieve this objective. The Consultants will be located in the region and will report to the Head of TIR and Trade Facilitation.

Requirements
- Lead the vision, strategic planning and development of the IRU within the region and act as an advocate to expand business opportunities;
- Develop an effective network of contacts with key decision-makers and members;
- Lead lobbying activities vis-à-vis regional institutions to ensure that the IRU’s priorities such as Trade Facilitation (UN TIR Convention), the development of an efficient road transport industry, intermodality or other projects are effectively communicated and ultimately adopted by relevant stakeholders;
- Represent the organisation in the region and continuously report on activities/project progress to the head office.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate studies in Economics, Law, Political Science or any other relevant discipline;
- Experience working in international trade and transport is a must with at least eight years experience involving interactions at senior governmental levels;
- Knowledge of Customs transit procedures, UN Conventions and other facilitation instruments;
- Well-developed negotiation and lobbying skills;
- Advanced written communication and public speaking in English, excellent command of one of the regional languages is a must (Spanish and Portuguese; Arabic; French).
