(Fixed-term Contract)
Total salary package: R1 339 518 per annum plus a 10% non-pensionable allowance.

This allinclusive remuneration package consists of a basic salary, the State's contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund and a flexible portion that may be structured in terms of the applicable rules. The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract
(Ref. 75452)

Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, plus proven extensive senior/executive and financial management experience. A postgraduate degree would be advantageous.

and internationally.

Duties: As Head of the Department, the Director-General will assume overall responsibility for the management of the Department. This includes responsibilities accruing to the Department as the primary support to the Presidency and the Ministry in their mandate as the custodians of South Africa's foreign policy. The Director-General is also the Accounting Officer and Administrative Head and is entrusted with the responsibilities of facilitating the core processes of the
Department, managing all resources and ensuring that the Department complies with all statutory requirements.

The successful candidate will: * Manage the formulation, co-ordination, implementation and monitoring of South Africa's foreign policy * Advance South Africa's national interests and values through bilateral and multilateral diplomatic relations * Manage co-ordination and co-operation with other National Departments, other spheres of Government and stakeholders with regard to the pursuit of South Africa's international relations * Manage the Department's participation in the integrated governmental system of governance * Build a modern, effective and excellence-driven department * Manage the provision of efficient consular services to South African nationals abroad * Manage the provision of efficient protocol services
* Ensure compliance with the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS).
