Transmission Engineer

Reporting to Senior Transmission Engineer, the role holder shall ensure effective deployment, implementation and installation of the Orange Botswana Transmission network and associated elements. Candidate is required to participate in callout Rota to support the business, as well as demonstrate flexibility and may be required to complete tasks normally undertaken by other members of the ITN Operations Team. The role entails deployment and implementation of transmission to new sites including site surveys, installation of all site services and identification of new sites. Also key to the position is implementation of the Orange transmission implementation program, ensuring that suppliers and subcontractors are following the agreed schedules. The role holder is also required to ensure contractors conform to Orange Botswana specifications and standards of quality; design and safety. Provide timely reports and completed documentation to the Senior Transmission Engineer. In addition, the incumbent is required to maintain and extend technical skills and knowledge in order to remain proficient in the role.

Qualifications and experience

* Recognized Electronics/Engineering qualification (Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND)).
* Must have 2 -3 years experience within the Telecommunications industry or similar Engineering or utility environment.
* Ability to work at heights.
* Driver's License.

Competencies and skills

+ Must be proficient in an appropriate GSM discipline.
+ A good knowledge of GSM architecture, power plants and project management.
+ A good knowledge of transmission systems (SDH, PDH, Ethernet etc)
