LE III Trade & Investment Adviser for UK Trade & Investment

The UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) section in the British Embassy is recruiting a locally engaged Trade & Investment Adviser for Belgium & Luxembourg. UKTI is the UK government organisation that supports UK companies trading internationally and overseas enterprises looking to locate in the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of a small team, you will provide support to the Trade & Investment Officers in developing and delivering both the trade and inward investment strategy for Belgium. The aim of which is to attract, retain and add value to direct investment in the UK and support British companies to do business in Belgium. You will cover a wide range of sectors with an emphasis on growth sectors including renewable energy, ICT, Financial Services and Business Services.

In this role you will:

  • Support the team in liaising with existing business decision-makers as well as making new contacts
  • Research target sectors and provide key business information
  • Client-face; including meetings, taking both email and telephone enquiries and providing practical information to companies
  • Assist in organising UKTI activities such as roundtable events, sector-themed seminars and missions, as well as wider Embassy events

Skills required

Essential

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Flexibility, a proactive attitude and the ability to work in a team
  • Effective time management; ability to prioritize work
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new applications
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English, French and Dutch

Desired

  • Experience of dealing with business in an international context
  • Experience in event organisation
  • Knowledge of the Belgian and UK business scenes

This position will be filled on a 2 year fixed-term contract.

Gross monthly salary: €2197.32
