Events Manager

We are seeking to fill the position of Events Manager
Job Description:
EAI is seeking an Events Managers who can take responsibility for our academic and scientific events from initiation to final delivery. EAI relies on a comprehensive set of tools that automate the event-management process to ensure timelines and high-quality programs. Event management experience is an added advantage.
Duties include:
- Working with volunteers and EAI staff in managing the event to ensure successful step-by-step execution of the event content, logistics, marketing and sponsorships.
- Managing event activity budgets during all phases of planning, execution and closing by keeping with EAI expectations including cost effectiveness, minimized liabilities and deliverables.
- Troubleshooting questions, resolving problems and providing best practices to conference committees and participants
- Ensuring high-quality volunteer support services and volunteer cooperation
- Capitalizing on and contributing to utilizing and building web-based communications channels in support of event management
- Serving as staff liaison for other EAI activities to ensure effective communications with key stake holders including publications, awards, SIBs.
Technical Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration or other related subject area. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Experience with events management in international setting
- Familiarity with membership, registration, paper submission, marketing and other technology platforms and database systems will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of scientific and business communities within institutional work environments will also be an added advantage
- Knowledge of office practices, policies and procedures with practical experience using MS Office suite products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Organizational Skills:
- Strong entrepreneurial, diplomatic and cultural sensitivity
- Proven project management abilities while multi-tasking within a deadline-driven environment to ensure deliverables are met
- Ability to work independently and as a team player in a dynamic business culture.
- Volunteer work experiences preferred
- Willing to work extended hours (including weekends); domestic and/or international travel one week or more as required
- Experience in professional societies event management will be considered a significant advantage
Languages: English proficiency is required both at a spoken and written level; 2nd language is preferred
