General Manager Uganda Timber Growers Association

UTGA are seeking to recruit a
General Manager to lead the Uganda Timber Growers Association Secretariat in Uganda

BACKGROUND:
UTGA is a Members' organisation of tree growers, who see the advantage of a collective voice for the promotion of commercial forestry in Uganda. Since 2004, the Sawlog Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) has been providing private individuals and companies with financial support and technical expertise for the establishment and management of forest plantations. In 2005, many SPGS Clients and other private tree growers found that there were issues that could be addressed better collectively than as individuals, which led to the start-up of a private planters' association. The Association aims to be influential in a lobby towards the Government of Uganda in regards to fiscal incentives for forestry and improved environment for investors related to the forest sector. The current Director has resigned and therefore UTGA is seeking the immediate services of a Manager with long practical experience in the private-sector to lead a small, but dedicated team.
