Position Title: Mozambique: Maternal and Neonatal Health Project Manager
Contract Type: Fixed term appointment (minimum 3 years)
Place of Assignment: Chiure, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique (with frequent dislocations to Pemba)

Tasks and responsibilities:
· Develop and direct the SolidarMed Maternal / Neonatal Health project in Cabo Delgado
· Support the partner district health directorates of Chiure and Ancuabe with the improvement of Maternal and Neonatal health services
· Apply scientific evidence, promote lessons learned, link with technical or research organizations
· Coordinate with other SolidarMed projects and stakeholders such as the Provincial health directorate, Ministry of health, other NGO’s etc.
· The position is not a clinical position, but implies clinical mentoring and coaching. We are looking for a hands-on person with clinical experience, not afraid of organizing and implementing

The SolidarMed program:
SolidarMed is a medium size Swiss NGO which strives to improve the health of the population in southern Africa. Its operational approach is based on three strategic pillars: Governance, primary care and
service delivery, community health. Within this frame, the Mozambique program implements projects in two districts of the Province of Cabo Delgado (Chiure and Ancuabe) with the following main elements:
· HIV treatment and prevention
· Maternal and Neonatal Health
· Community empowerment for health
· An integrated program to address malaria.

SolidarMed works intensely in few, but highly challenging rural settings, in very close collaboration with our main partners (District and Provincial Health Directorate). As such SolidarMed relies on a pool of experience of over 10 years in the area. It strives to pilot innovative approaches and aims at capitalizing activities to inform public health and policy dialogue.

To best fit into our interdisciplinary team, we expect the following qualifications:
· Health professional such as nurse, public health specialist or physician
· Degree in maternal, neonatal or public health (ideally post-graduate)
· Sound maternal health working experience (including clinical)
· Readiness to organize and implement. Management experience, including Human Resource Management and PCM
· Interest in knowledge sharing, scientific exchange and best-practice application
· Intercultural sensitivity and communication skills
· Ability to assume responsibilities and to work within a team.

Language skills
· Fluent English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
· If Portuguese not spoken: French, Italian or Spanish and willingness to learn Portuguese
