Your experience in and passion for youth development issues in developing countries will make a real difference to millions of young people in Central Africa and to their future as adults.

The Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) addresses the concerns of young people in education, gender, poverty, health and sustainable development in the 54 member countries of the Commonwealth. Its objective is to strengthen youth ministries and independent youth networks to support policy and programme development based on the active participation of both young women and young men.

As a Programme Manager, Youth Development, you will make a difference by being one of three technical officers assisting the Regional Director for Africa in the formulation and implementation of the Regional Strategic Plan and Annual Operational Plan.

Focused on Youth Work Education and Training, you will provide technical leadership in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of capacity building/knowledge management initiatives in Central Africa, all of which are aimed at improving knowledge, skills and attitudes in youth development.

You will organise campaigns, conferences, events and conduct programmes; prepare related training materials, reports and publications; conduct research; and contribute to all aspects of CYP operations.

With a degree in social science or the humanities and professional qualifications in a field such as youth work, community development, social administration or development, you must have solid experience in a government or non-government organisation dealing with such issues as youth enterprise development, youth training, youth networks and governance, and youth participation.
