Tax Administration Resident Advisor
to be based in Barbados

Applications are invited from tax administration specialists to fill a resident advisor position at the Caribbean Technical Assistance Center (CARTAC), based in Bridgetown, Barbados. CARTAC is a multi donor-financed institution administered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Center reports to a steering committee consisting of member states and donors, and provides technical assistance (TA) in economic and financial management to 20 Caribbean countries.

The resident advisor (one of three) will conduct missions to CARTAC member-states in the Caribbean, coordinate the advice of experts who may be contracted to provide technical assistance to members on a short-term basis, and engage in training activities, seminars, workshops and similar technical assistance activities. He or she will work closely with IMF staff in Washington, D.C.

Applicants should have extensive practical experience in a senior position within a tax administration. Preference will be given to applicants who have an all round experience in managing tax operations, with a particular emphasis on VAT; have participated in tax administration reform programs domestically or internationally; have experience in managing or overseeing technical assistance work and coordinating with other donors; and are aware of the issues and challenges facing tax administration reforms in the Caribbean.

It is expected that the successful candidate will take up the appointment on a date to be agreed in June, 2011. The initial term of appointment will be one year, renewable annually subject to satisfactory performance.
