We are looking for qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Resident Engineer – Kenya / Uganda

The overall responsibilities will include:

  • Check and confirm quality of raw materials i.e. sand, aggregate & blocks (concrete). Reject all non-conforming materials and keeping data on suppliers/sources of these materials.
  • Witness and ensure that the approved mix of concrete is used including control of water/cement ratio.
  • Collect samples of concrete cubes for testing; arrange to witness at random testing of cubes at the laboratory and keep a record of all test results.
  • Inspect formwork prior to fixing of reinforcement.
  • Preliminary check of reinforcement prior to engineer’s check.
  • Witness and supervise concrete casting, vibration and positioning of construction joints. Ensure adequate curing of construction joints.
  • Ensure that formwork is struck off at the appropriate time.
  • Report any structural problems e.g. honey combing of concrete etc to engineer.

Candidates should have a B.Science in Civil Engineering degree, 15 years experience, be registered with ERB, Uganda and have a current Practising License.

Qualified candidates should provide a certified/signed Curriculum Vitae (with a coloured passport size photo attached) detailing names ofcompanies worked for, projects involved giving years and responsibilities, other relevant skills such as proficiency in computer aided designs and detailing, driving, materials investigations and testing, use of survey equipment etc) and languages proficiency.

Copies of National ID and relevant certificates for achievements described above and a statement that the applicant has not been accused/convicted on criminal and/or fraud charges.

Resident Site Architect – Uganda

The overall responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor progress ofthe project in terms ofthe contract programme to ensure timely delivery.
  • Co-ordinate the project in totality with the consultant’s information, i.e., Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying and Landscape with Architecture
  • Lead the Resident Consultant team (Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical) in all contractual matters and procedures on the site.
  • Monitor and endorse contractual communication to and fro from the site.
  • Monitor and endorse site instructions emanating from the consultants, on approval from the Project Architect.
  • Ensure timely delivery of information requested by the contractor from the consultants.
  • Lead the Resident Consultant team in site supervision
  • Lead the post contract design phase of all the disciplines in post contract design changes and design issues from the site that need solution from the project designers;
  • Prepare progress reports ofthe project on a monthly and quarterly basis for issue to the client
  • Responsible for keeping record of site equipment, issuing of site office equipment and stationery and keeping records of stocks available and advising the Project Manager when additional stocks are required.

Candidates should have Bachelors degree in Architecture, 5 years experience, be registered with ERB, Uganda, holder of driving license, holder of a valid passport, knowledge of Uganda building procedures, knowledge ofthe building bye-laws and of local authority submission procedures, knowledge oftropical world architectural issues is desirable
and have a current practising License.

Clerk of Works – Uganda

The overall responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor of materials and workmanship in association with the Project Architect. Notify the Project Architect immediately of materials and/or workmanship and occurrences on the site that could delay the project.
  • Ensure that the Contractor maintains a Site Diary as per the contract, and endorse the Site Diary ofthe Contractor on a daily basis.
  • Check drawings and specifications for discrepancies and seek the Resident Site Architect’s decision and clarification, particularly prior to commencement of construction.
  • Also, ensure that the construction is carried out as per the drawings and specifications, and notify the Resident Site Architect of any variances ¡n construction immediately.
  • Supervise tests required if instructed by the Resident Site Architect, and in association with the local engineer of the disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Monitor, liaise and co-ordinate works with the local Engineers ofother disciplines required, such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Under the direction of the Resident Site Architect check quality assurance as per the contractors approved quality assurance manual and ensure standards of workmanship and materials conform to the specifications in the Contract and the construction drawings.
  • Attend all progress/site meetings and co-ordination meetings as required on site
  • Monitor the health and safety procedures ofthe Contractor. and notify the Resident Site Architect of any immediate hazards or shortfalls.
  • Responsible for co-coordinating the filing of hard copy drawings based on the system set out by the Project Architect, and as per the updated drawing list. To ensure that the drawings that are not in use are properly filed away.
  • To programme and carry out snagging of all the buildings in an organized and systematic manner, so that the final snagging time programmed by the Contractor can be met without any delays to the Project. File away the snag list in an organized, systematic manner so that it can be retrieved/reviewed in the future by Resident Site Architect.
  • Monitor trades, e.g. installation, concealment, neatness and routing etc. quality assurance and standards of workmanship on finishes.
  • Check and verify the Contractor’s time sheets, employees pay sheets and day work sheet for records.
  • Prepare a weekly and monthly schedule of works to be undertaken by the Clerk of Works for the approval of the Resident Site Architect and work as per the approved schedule.

Candidates should have Higher Diploma in Construction and 5 years or Ordinary Diploma and 8 years or its equivalent with a minimum of 8 years post qualification experience relevant to Construction supervision and capable of supervising large-scale projects, holder of a valid driving license, holder of valid passport, knowledge of Uganda building procedures, knowledge of standard specifications of materials and workmanship to Building Contracts, knowledge of Factory and Health Acts of the Government of Uganda relevant to the building industry and knowledge of Uganda buildings bye laws and building legislations
