Veterinarian Field Officer

Description:
The ICRC is inviting qualified Nationals to apply for the position of Veterinarian Field Officer to be based in Amran.

Responsibilities:
Assessment
• Contributes to preparation of assessment trips – methodology, area selection, organisational matters
• Works independently when required on sectors of the assessment process – household interviews, focal group discussions and background information gathering,
• Translates and interprets, as required and as appropriate, during meetings,
• Contributes to assessment reports and provides field notes
• Makes and justifies independent recommendations following assessment missions,
• To contribute to the analysis and adaptation of the organization's strategy and operational approach ensuring the coherence of ICRC activities during operations,


Contacts, meetings & external relations
• Develops and maintains contacts with local authorities including the line department, village committees and counterparts in NGOs.
• Keeps updates about the changing local situation in general and economic security in particular,
• Identifies and maintains contacts with local technical consultants
• Interviews local authorities, local associations, NGO's and beneficiaries mainly independently.
• Registers and treats information (general and specific) with confidentiality and accuracy.
• Ability to present a synthesis of issues to interlocutors, according to their origin or level of education.
• Maintains good relations with the staff and management of the YRCS,

Monitoring
• Contributes to development of Post Implementation Monitoring methodology and questionnaires
• Carries out monitoring activities, mainly independently
• Contributes to extraction of data and analysis of monitoring findings,

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

• In collaboration with the EcoSec delegate, designs the training content, develops the training materials and tools that are necessary to implement the Community based Animal Health Workers (CAHWs) training and any other related activities,
• Organises the training venue, resource persons, accommodation and other necessary facilities for the trainee CAHWs.
• Supervises and coaches, or organises such services for, the (CAHW) in the field,
• Produce the training reports
• Manages, in collaboration with Logistics, the storage of the veterinary medicines and equipments,


SUPPORT TO DELEGATION

• Cooperates with other departments when required, sharing relevant information on livestock program issues
• Participates in ICRC internal and external meetings,
• Conducts general assessment and distributions during humanitarian emergencies (IDP influx, natural disaster etc.)
• Be aware of socio-political situation and keeps information up-to-date.
• Channels all relevant information related to the context, in general and in specific surroundings.
• Advises the expatriates in various fields such as culture, politics, economy, etc.

Requirements:
Selection requirements:
• Bachelor Degree in veterinary medicine & science (BVMSc)
• 2 years work experience in a similar field including at least 1 years of professional and practical experience in community based animal health program. Previous work with local NGO or international organization is an asset.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Arabic.
• Good computer skills
• Team leadership skills
• Good analytical skills
• Good communication skills
• Previous experiences in adult education and training would be an asset
• Capacity to work independently and under supervision
