Construction Delegate/Project Manager
The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is involved in the planning and implementation of a reconstruction and rehabilitation program in Pakistan. For our project in the disaster affected District of Charsadda, Provinces KPK, we are looking for a
Construction Delegate/Project Manager
to be based in Islamabad, Pakistan with frequent visits to Charsadda/KPK.
Tasks:
• Professional planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of an owner-driven project implemented with a cash approach for approx. 1’000 families in Charsadda/KPK
• Monitoring and controlling of all construction activities, material quality, project costs and work process
• Management and supervision of local staff in a culturally sensitive environment
• Responsibility for budgets and transparent and accountable finance management
• Coordination and networking with Pakistan Red Crescent Society and other partner agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders on site
• Progress monitoring, regular narrative and financial reporting and elaboration of project documentation.
Requirements:
• University degree and/or professional qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering, Architecture or related technical field
• Minimum 3 years of project management experience in construction of housing, including site supervision in a post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation context
• Demonstrated experience in construction administration systems and procedures, in particular control of works and financial management. Knowledge of cash based approach is an asset
• Experience of working effectively within a multicultural team of 5 expats
• Strong leadership skills, diplomacy, team spirit and negotiation skills
• Sensitivity to cultural differences, ability to adapt to the context and work under pressure
• Speaks and writes clearly and effectively in English (working language)
• Familiarity with Red Cross Movement is an advantage.
Conditions: 1 year with the option of extension, starting as soon as possible or according to agreement. Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided. No family posting.
