About YPP:

The Young Professionals Program is the main point of entry into the professional category of the Islamic Development Bank Group. The Program is designed to attract outstanding young graduates who could significantly contribute to the Islamic Development Bank Group to carry out its mission and attain its objectives.

Over a period of 18 months, the Program enables each Young Professional to receive extensive exposure and thus attain experience of the Islamic Development Bank Group's various activities through job rotations in different departments and affiliate institutions of the Group.

Participants will spend three rotations of 6 months each in 3 different departments and/or affiliate institutions.

During the Program, the participants will also benefit from coaching/mentoring arrangements and a wide range of relevant training and developmental opportunities.

Eligibility:

Selection to the Program is highly competitive due to the limited number of vacancies available each year.

The Minimum Requirements for selection are as follows:

  • A bachelor's degree from a recognized university provided that his/her minimum grade is:
    1. B+ according to the American academic system or 3.5 GPA out of 4.
    2. Very Good according to the Arab system.
    3. Upper Second Class Honors according to the British system.
    4. Bien according to the French system.
  • Be no more than 30 years age while joining the Bank.
  • Have a good command of either Arabic, English or French provided he/she is able to work in English.
  • Be a citizen of an IDB member country.

YP Profile

Selection to the program is highly competitive because of the limited number of vacancies available each year. Selected candidates usually match the following profile:

  • Maximum age is 30 years
  • A Master's degree
  • Fluent in 2 of the Bank's working languages (Arabic, English and French)
  • Good computer knowledge and skills
  • Strong analytical skills, maturity, flexibility, excellent communication skills, and leadership potential.
Career Progression Stages:

THE ROTATION PROCESS:

During the 18-months rotation process, a Young Professional will receive extensive exposure and experience of the Islamic Development Bank Group's various activities in different departments and affiliate institutions.

Each rotation period of 6 months will be in a new department.

Additionally, they will benefit from coaching/mentoring arrangements and a wide range of relevant training and developmental opportunities.

CONFIRMATION:

  • Confirmation takes place upon completion of the 18 months from the YP's date of joining the Bank. A YP's salary is calculated at the mid-point of P2 grade of the salary structure prevailing at the time of their confirmation.
  • The YPs get similar salary increase for their qualifications and experience at the time of their confirmation, which was applied on their appointment decision.

PROMOTION:

  • The YP's current salary at his/her grade will be carried forward to an upper grade (after applying percentage of increase for promotion and performance rating. From that point the YP will be considered a YP graduate.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Basic Salary: Internationally competitive tax free salary based on education and experience of the candidate
    • COLA: Cost of living allowance as per the management's decision
    • Transportation Allowance: Lump sum monthly payment
    • Spouse Allowance: 5% of basic salary if the spouse is not working
  • Housing Allowance: 25% of basic salary for married Young Professional (to a certain maximum limit) and 20% of basic salary for unmarried Young Professional (to a certain maximum limit) OR rental value up to a certain maximum limit with a furniture loan.
  • Children Education Allowance: 75% of actual education expenses to a maximum of US$ 16, 000 per child per school year
  • Air tickets (for staff members residing outside of Jeddah at the time of recruitment): Four economy class return air-tickets for home country, one for staff member and three for his family members
  • Dependency Allowance: $ 500 for each parent (living with the staff member) and children to a maximum of 5 dependents
  • Medical Coverage: Medical treatment for staff member and his/her immediate dependants, where each staff member also contributes a minor portion of the medical expenses
  • Leave: 24 working days leave for new staff members during one year in addition to 10 days casual leave to attend emergencies. (Due to the nature of the YP Program, which is tailored to rigorously engage YPs in training and development activities, they are not encouraged to take annual leave until they complete the first 18 months of the Program. However, on exceptional basis, they can avail a maximum of 10 days of annual leave once during the training program). The unutilized annual leave is accumulated and carried forward to the next year.
  • Staff Retirement Plan: The staff member contributes 7% of his/her basic salary and the Bank contributes 14.88%.
  • Group Personnel Accident Insurance: The Bank contributes 80% of the cost of the Group life insurance.
  • Medical Treatment Fund for Retirees: The Bank offers staff members the opportunity to participate in a medical treatment fund for retirement on a cost sharing basis, where the Bank contributes 1% and the staff member contributes 0.5%.

One Time Allowance and Benefits

  • Relocation Travel: Reimbursement for one way economy class air ticket upon joining the Islamic Development Bank (for staff and family).
  • Reimbursement of travel related expenses: Reimbursement of visa fees, transportation expenses, excess luggage charges, etc.
  • Installation Allowance: Upon joining the Bank, US $2000 for staff and US $500 for each of their dependents, maximum of 4 dependants.
  • Relocation Shipment: One time benefit for the staff member who is recruited from outside the host country to arrange bringing their household effects within one year of their joining the Bank.
  • Car Financing: The Bank has a car financing scheme, which provides 80% financing for the car's price on a very nominal rate of return.
