POSTING JOB DESCRIPTION
An experienced international news editor you will be responsible for driving CNNi's newsgathering operation from London, covering all editorial/operations in the EMEA region. The Senior Director of Coverage, Newsgathering will be involved at a senior level in finance and operations management. He or she will also be responsible for making sure the demands of all network platforms are met to a high editorial standard. They will have responsibility for the overall editorial quality control of all aspects of international footage/pieces submitted from reporters from all international bureaus and provide same day feedback and critique to continuously improve the quality of coverage. They work closely with counterparts at all networks and platforms to discuss coverage needs and plans to deliver upon these requests as well as being the primary contact and day-to-day editorial control of the international news coverage of our networks. They will drive our coverage to ensure we are accurate, first , safe and comprehensive. They also have responsibility for appraisals, recruitment, training and development of the assignment desk staff, oversee EMEA international newsgathering staff and oversee the scheduling process for all desk employees. They will need to promote and enhance new areas of technology for the company within the international assignment desk, providing and/or organizing this training for all desk personnel. The successful candidate will be a broadcast professional with a demonstrable understanding of european and business affairs, proven leadership and editorial skills and a strong track record in breaking news with an international newsgathering operation. This senior role requires extensive field, newsdesk, package producing and management experience to respond to the demands of 24 hour global programming in international affairs, business, sport and features. Candidates should also possess strong writing and editing skills and foreign languages would be advantageous. Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration and management skills.
