General Information
The Social Transformation Programmes Division (STPD) of the Commonwealth Secretariat comprises the Education, Gender and Health Sections. The three sections work on key aspects of human development towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) across the Commonwealth. The Division brokers partnerships in international, Commonwealth, regional, bilateral, civil society organisations and the private sector to enhance capacity and impact of human development, in particular the areas of Education, Health and Gender programmes.
Job Summary
The Intern will assist the Social Transformation Programmes Division (STPD) in the coordination and implementation of its programme.
Task description
· Assist in the arrangement of meetings, conferences and events
· Draft and send letters, memos, emails and other correspondence on behalf of Director as required
· Research into key programme areas for various projects
· Provide logistical support across sections as necessary
· Provide other administrative and programmatic support as necessary
The post holder may also be required to perform any other duties appropriate to the position as may be required from time to time.
Person Specification
Education:
Recognised graduate level qualification.
Post holder should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to organise, plan and prioritise workload and work under pressure to deadlines
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with ad-hoc queries/problems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
