We seek qualified candidates for the position of Chief of Party (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia).
Position Description:
The Chief of Party, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, shall working closely with USAID on all aspects of READ program planning and implementation and ensure that the results framework for the program is integrated into program workplans, reporting is timely, activities are completed, and targets are reached as agreed to in the program workplan. The COP will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the anticipated READ Technical Assistance Project and will oversee its administrative, programmatic, and operational implementation in Ethiopia. S/he shall supervise all program staff and manage partner relations and maintain excellent relations with Ethiopian stakeholders and partners as well as with USAID and FHI 360/Washington.
Minimum Requirements:
Outstanding leadership skills and technical expertise related to improving student and teacher performance, excellent analytical skills and aptitude for details, capacity to work in difficult conditions and function well under pressure and extensive international experience and experience in a developing country required, with a strong preference for East Africa. Masters degree in education, linguistics, or related field required, PhD preferred. Experience managing USAID-funded project preferred with a proven track record managing diverse teams of international and local staff, stakeholders, and partners. Recent experience designing, managing or evaluating early-grade reading programs preferred. Strong oral and written English language skills.
