ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Formed in April 2008, Saija Finance Private Limited is a non banking finance company – microfinance institution (NBFC - MFI) based out of Bihar. It focuses on providing microfinance services to urban and rural poor, as well as micro and small businessmen, in the underserved geographies of Northern and Eastern India, starting with Bihar. Its mission is to bring innovative and transparent microfinance to millions in urban and rural India and  improve quality of life of its customers.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
Saija Finance is seeking a Branch Manager. S/he will be responsible for maintaining a constantly growing healthy portfolio with the objective of achieving goals as established and increasing branch profitability.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and monitor annual budget in consultation with the BOE;
  • Plan monthly branch activities;
  • Establish zones among FEs;
  • Monitor every-day functions of FEs, establishing goals and verifying how they are met, as guided by the branch’s commercial plan:
    • Make random and surprise reviews of the complete cycle of loan: group formations, evaluation, disbursements, collections and repeat loans, with the purpose of timely monitoring of quality and adherence to policy.
  • See that standards are met: product guidelines, methodology policy, and manuals are followed, government regulations are obeyed;
  • Provide orientation and guidance to staff through timely evaluations, problem-solving, decision making and communication of any necessary information to staff and informing;
  • Commercial/regional/area manager regarding potential problems or difficulties that may have a significant influence on successful every-day branch development;
  • Monitor the proper use of resources, equipment, and office material for efficiency;
  • Schedule visits to clients, keeping in mind potential markets as well as the traditional market served by the branch, growth, tendencies, and characteristics of the area;
  • Evaluate branch portfolio, analyze and propose solutions for possible causes of delinquency, client desertion or group break-ups;
  • Follow-up on partially met goals compared with full potential as planned. Review goals met by the branch as stipulated;
  • Respond to internal audit reports and monitor implementation of recommendations as agreed;
  • Participate in and report to the HR regarding scheduling and control of annual vacation time, absences/tardiness, leave, dismissals, and compliance of staff with disciplinary sanctions duty fulfillment as required for normal every-day successful working of branch;
  • Communicate with staff regarding changes or modifications in objectives, policies, strategies, regulations, norms, functions, systems, procedures, methods and other guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce or similar field will be preferred. Preference will be given to the Master's degree/Diploma holder in the Commerce or Management disciplines;
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in microfinance sector operations or other financial institutions;
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role will be preferred;
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate staff to achieve own and branch goals;
  • Ability to recognize and leverage staff talent and individual aptitudes;
  • Analytical and decision making skills;
  • Ability to interpret technical, administrative documents, and financial data;
  • Skillful communication of ideas and knowledge;
  • Optimal and efficient use of material, human and equipment resources;
  • Computer skills: MS Office;
  • Basic accounting and financial knowledge;
  • Basic knowledge of legal aspects governing financial services industry.
