Intern - Measuring Access to Finance Through Postal Networks

Established in 1874, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), with its headquarters in the Swiss capital Berne, is the second oldest international organization worldwide. UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
ABOUT THE JOB:
UPU is seeking an Intern - Measuring Access to Finance Through Postal Networks. S/he will be responsible for preparing an online version of an already available questionnaire, using SurveyMonkey or similar tools.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Collect statistics from the 192 organization's member countries, which includes liaising with postal operators worldwide and providing the appropriate follow-up to ensure the highest rate of response possible under a tight schedule;
- Build a statistical database with countries’ answers to the questionnaire;
- Update or refine indicators related to financial inclusion through posts;
- Produce pieces of research and analysis using the database and the indicators;
- Perform other tasks as needed for the financial inclusion activities of the organization.
Qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics or Finance and be enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program;
- University course should demonstrate a keen interest in empirical and statistical work or economic analysis;
- Research and written deliverables of the internship will be conducted primarily in English.
- Candidates will have in-depth knowledge of statistical and economic analysis;
- Knowledge in the field of access to finance, microfinance, or related topics will be an asset.
