Policy Intern at European Network Against Racism

The intern would support the Policy Unit and Secretariat based on ENAR’s current work programme.
 
Starting date: End of Septemeber onwards.
 
Key activities include:
  • Monitoring relevant policy developments within the European institutions
  • Undertaking specific research for the policy unit concerning relevant topics at EU and national levels including research for documents of EU institutions concerning racism and equal treatment and other related issues
  • Updating and monitoring ENAR’s advocacy calendar
  • Drafting factsheets and/or policy position papers
  • Supporting in the design of conferences and relevant meetings related to policy as appropriate
  • Supporting work on ENAR’s Shadow Reports on racism in Europe
  • Attending and reporting on internal and external meetings
  • Supporting the administrative and logistical work related to ENAR campaigns and/or events
  • Participating in any other task related to the post as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Director, Policy Manager, Policy Officers and Shadow Report Officer according to the particular skills and competencies of the intern.
Qualifications required:
  • Excellent English proficiency with distinctive and proven writing skills
  • Fluency in French is a distinct advantage
  • Pursuing/having pursued studies in law
  • Good knowledge of the European institutions
  • Good knowledge of human rights, discrimination, and anti-racism
  • Good knowledge of advocacy and/or campaigning
  • Good knowledge of different research methods
  • Experience in researching on policy-related issues
  • Diligence, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Committed and flexible team-player, able to work in a multicultural environment
  • Committed to the struggle against racism and the promotion of equal rights.
Please note that the internship must be part of university studies and that we require a written agreement between the intern’s university/school, ENAR and the intern. The internship should be for a period of at least 3 months or longer and is full time. Any applications that do not respond to these requirements will not be considered.
 
Internships are unpaid and ENAR does not provide any financial support.
