In July, 2011, Barrick acquired Equinox Minerals which adds a further 4.5 billion pounds of copper reserves from the Lumwana mine and 1.2 billion pounds of copper reserves from the Jabal Sayid project.

Currently Barrick has an opening for a Capital Projects Audit Manager within our global Assurance and Advisory services function. 
The successful candidate will take a lead role in assisting our capital projects audit practice with the planning and delivery of major construction project risk assessments, governance reviews, and project controls for Barrick Gold Corporation. Successful candidates will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, performance and cost auditing, planning, conducting interviews, analytical procedures, and providing recommendations for improving processes and controls. 
 
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the area of project controls and governance and will develop industry and technical expertise in the performance of major construction audit services, construction cost auditing and construction investigations through training and professional experience.  
 
 Responsibilities: ·         Conduct audit of activities related to large scale capital projects and including audits of EPCM contractors, project management activities and conduct project controls & governance assessments
·         Advise on the development and implementation of business processes necessary for the successful execution and management of large capital   projects
·         Assist in prepare  audit planning documentation including audit scope of work, key deliverables and project plans
·         Support the review and help advise on cost estimations, scheduling, project risk management, quality control and environmental issues
·         Support the management of construction contract audits and compliance reviews
·         Evaluate and make recommendations for improving controls associated  the project management, financial accounting (allocation of costs) and reporting related to capital projects
·         Provide field audit supervision as required in regions and corporate, also ensure that our corrective action plans are executed
·         Actively lead and develop supporting team members and work collaboratively with peers
·         Support management with deliverables and expectations as well as review the quality of the fieldwork and deliverables prepared by supporting team members.
·         Display strong leadership skills and the ability to lead when managing difficult and time sensitive assignments.
·         Display a strong understanding of the construction and engineering industry. 
·         Provide training to internal team members
·         Simultaneously manage multiple audits of varying size, scope and complexity
·         Assist in yearly SOX testing and other Internal Audits as required.
·         Review and advise on any potential claims made by the EPCM, subcontractors or vendors levied against us
 
 
 Skills & Qualifications 
·         Must have 6+ years experience performing audits and risk assessments on large ($100m+) construction and infrastructure projects
·         Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences or Engineering
·         Preference will be given to candidates with a CCA,CCE,CCP or a CIA designation with a solid financial accounting and reporting background
·         Industry experience in mining, transportation, infrastructure, or commercial construction
·         Must have strong project management skills; PMP designation is an asset
·         Able to lead cross functional teams comprised of diverse backgrounds and skill sets
·         Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment
·         Strong verbal and written communication
·         Demonstrated ability to plan and execute Risk and Compliance type engagements
·         High degree of personal confidence, drive and the ability to operate with minimal supervision
·         English Language proficiency (written and spoken)  
  
Working Conditions 
Applicants should be comfortable with frequent travel (40-50%) to project sites in Chile and then, around the world which will include work in high altitude.
