Lecturer in Evidence-Based Policing
The Institute of Criminology seeks to appoint two full-time Lecturers to the Police Executive Programme, which includes the M.St. and Postgraduate Diploma courses in Applied Criminology and Police Management. The posts are available from October 2013 until 31 March 2016; it is expected however that the successful candidates would be available to carry out partial duties in Cambridge in March 2013, but would not necessarily be required to take up the full post until October 2013.
Candidates should be qualified to Ph.D. level in criminology (or a related discipline such as sociology, statistics or psychology), and be able to teach in at least one of the following areas: statistical forecasting of crime, harm, and justice outcomes; programme evaluation; or randomized field experimental research designs. Candidates are expected to have an established national and international reputation that is documented by publications in leading journals of their own empirical research projects.
Extensive experience of graduate-level teaching of midcareer professionals, including developing teaching material and supervising students, is required, as well as a strong recent record of publications, lectures at international conferences and proven experience of generating research income. Candidates should have previous teaching and research experience with mid-career students, including field experience.
