Background:
SOS Children’s Villages International www.sos-childrensvillages.org  is the umbrella organisation for over 130 SOS Children’s Villages associations worldwide. As a non-governmental social development organization which is helping children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education and health. The organization also advocates for children’s rights.
 
Purpose of this position:
Manage global SOS Children´s Villages fundraising and communications analysis and ensure that the Fund Development and Communications function maximizes the use of data collected for quality analysis to assist effective decision making. They will coordinate International Fundraising and Communications strategic planning; establish strategic fundraising reporting for the global organization and coordinate Strategic Growth Investment Programme (a fundraising investment fund) by providing strategic recommendations for fundraising investment. 
 
Priority tasks & responsibilities
                     Support the International Fundraising and Communications Director (Dir. FD & Comm.) in the strategic and annual planning, in improving the quality of key data and information available to management and by strengthening a culture of integrated planning and analysis capacity across the organisation.
                     Collect, consolidate, analyse and ensure quality of data for review of international strategic and annual plans.
                     Analyse and interpret fundraising data from partners and the donor base and provide consolidated overview and recommendations by establishing a strengthened reporting system
                     Contribute to strengthen culture of knowledge sharing and learning in the area of analysis
                     Manage the improvement of monitoring, reporting and evaluation tools. This includes: supporting national member associations and continental/regional staff in the development of planning/monitoring/evaluation and research tools.
                     Maintain profile of selected major competitors on an international level, analyse their developments and share information within the organization. This includes responsibility for conducting the Annual INGO benchmarking project.
                     Coordinate Strategic Growth Investment Programme and support in developing strategic recommendations for fundraising investment.
                     Monitor the fundraising industry, flag general trends and alert key stakeholders on a regular basis.
                     Undertake or support new market studies and develop on-going monitoring and evaluation.
                     Consult with internal specialists in Individual Giving, Digital, Institutional Partnerships , Leadership Giving, Communications to help ensure stronger analysis of the various fundraising and communications programs and techniques being used
                     Coordinate global network of Strategy and Analysis Advisors and ensure alignment
                     Actively support International Director, Fund Development and Communications in preparing high level strategic presentations
 
Candidate profile:
Although this post is related to non-profit sector fundraising we encourage professionals from the commercial sector to also apply for the post where they have relevant professional experience in direct marketing where there is a an extensive use of matrices for measuring the return on investment (ROI), response rates, attrition, lifetime value of clients and other similar measurements. Many of the tools used for fundraising include direct mail, telephone marketing, street and door to door sales, and internet marketing etc. which are also typically used in the commercial sector.
 
The focus in fundraising is the recruitment and retention of new donors, ideally those paying automatically via the bank; the building of loyalty and an increase in their lifetime value through upgrading and increasing the value of the donors’ annual contributions.
 
Required experience and skills:
                     At least 8 years' previous relevant work experience including at least 6 years international  fundraising and/or corporate marketing experience in a not-profit organisation or in a similar role in an international commercial corporation.
                     Minimum of 5 years proven expertise in international and national fundraising or commercial marketing  analysis
                     Proven experience in managing or supporting  investment processes, funding procedures and funding reporting which focuses on the return on investment
                     Knowledge of and experience with most fundraising or direct marketing/online techniques, preferably within the international NGO sector or commercial sector such as banking, financial services or telecoms
                     Strong external benchmarking and best practice experience in a financial, fundraising or marketing role.
                     Experience in database/CRS platforms
                     Excellent written reporting in English and financial forecasting/reporting in Excel etc.
                     Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills in English and a good knowledge of a second European language, further languages an asset.
                     Proven competence and expertise in creating, leading and facilitating dynamic networks.
                     Sound judgement, a strategic outlook, a broad view, drive, enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising/marketing/research.
                     Proven leadership and people skills where you’ve been able to influence and inspire others in a large, multi-cultural decentralised organisation.
                     Willingness and ability to travel internationally
 
Education:
·         A university degree (BA) in business administrations/marketing, social sciences or a related discipline
