Researchers – food chain policy and economics / consumer policy and markets / online privacy and consumer protection
Researchers will contribute to the work of a small, dedicated and multi-cultural team in Berlin that focuses on producing high-quality studies in the above mentioned fields that are known for their accuracy and independence and provide a solid basis for decisions of policy makers, parliamentarians and stakeholders. At Civic Consulting you will:
- Provide high quality research and analytical inputs for public policy and economic research, evaluation and impact assessment for the European Commission, the European Parliament and other international clients;
- Design and apply quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, conduct economic and policy analysis;
- Contribute to and coordinate work on EU studies, take personal responsibility for their completion and ensure deadlines are met;
- Write analytical reports, coordinate and edit contributions of external experts;
- Prepare proposals for studies.
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
- A postgraduate degree in economics, political sciences, law or other relevant subjects
- At least four to five years of professional experience after graduation in one of the above mentioned fields (food chain policy and economics, or consumer policy and markets, or online privacy and consumer protection), with several years of experience in writing of analytical reports or academic articles, as well as previous work experience in a research institution, a consultancy or a European/international body.
- Evidence of a good knowledge and understanding of European policy, governance and economic issues.
- Evidence of ability to understand, analyse and recommend policies and solutions to complex economic or policy problems, ideally in the EU context.
- Evidence of ability to work on and, where appropriate, lead multi-disciplinary/multi-country studies.
- Demonstrated capacity to design and use quantitative and qualitative research tools, such as survey questionnaires, guidelines for expert interviews, etc.
- Evidence of a high level of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel and possibly SPSS and other relevant software.
We expect all applicants to possess excellent knowledge of English at the level of a native speaker. Knowledge of German or French and other EU languages would be an asset. EU citizenship or work permit required.
