Conflict Prevention Adviser

The Secretariat seeks a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Conflict Prevention Adviser. The Adviser will be accountable to the Director, Political Governance and Security Programme for:
• Overviews, policy analysis and advice on regional conflict prevention work;
• Support to the Director of the Political Governance & Security Programme and Management of Staff;
• Representation of Forum Interests;
• Meeting Coordination

Applicants should have a post-graduate degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Political Science or other relevant degree. They should have at least seven years experience working on a broad range of conflict prevention and peacebuilding issues, and sound knowledge of political, security and good governance issues relevant to Forum members including in the areas of conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Extensive experience in analysis and report writing are essential. Applicants should be willing to travel economy class.

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The salary will be in the range of SDR32,002 to SDR48,002 per annum. At the 1 December 2012 exchange rate this salary range was equivalent to FJD89,167 to FJD133,748.
