HR SERVICES SPECIALIST - EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (NORTHEAST, US)

Key performance areas
As a key member of our HR team, you will provide advice, guidance and coaching to managers regarding complex employee relations and people management issues. The Employee Relations Specialist serves diverse business areas and will support managers and employees at their site locations with policies, performance management, organizational changes, and execution of strategic HR initiatives. Regional travel to site locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut is expected.
Additionally, you will:
- Address complex queries raised by line managers in relation to HR policies and procedure
- Coach managers to develop capability and confidence in people management and leadership
- Apply knowledge and experience in interpreting HR policies and procedures and how they apply to individual employee circumstances; also providing competent advice on application of company policies according to local employment legislation
- Guide managers through the management of employee relations issues including performance management and development, potential disciplinary actions, handling grievances
- Understand and manage potential risk in relation to employee actions and issues with ability to escalate as appropriate.
- Provide coaching and advice to hiring managers in identifying organizational needs and team dynamics.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
- 7+ years’ experience minimum in a Human Resources Generalist role with a focus on employee relations and performance development
- Mature approach with resources to flex and adapt positively to a changing environment and expectations
- Using your superior communication skills, you partner with our organization's management team to support their progress and challenge their norms of thought in order to drive fresh improvements and deliver strong results
- Strong listening skills when interacting with employees and managers, and handling questions regarding policies, processes, etc.
- Comfortable with 30-50% regional travel (head office in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut)
- Union relations experience is a plus
