ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY PROFESSIONAL - ARNPRIOR ONTARIO

Sandvik Materials Technology, a world leading producer of high value-added products in advanced materials, special alloys, metallic and ceramic resistance materials, has an excellent career opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety Professional in Arnprior, Ontario.
Key performance areas
  • Maintain EH&S System Documentation in accordance with international 18001 standards. Responsible for Company and External reporting
  • Create safety culture within organization – promote and ensure compliance with safety rules.
  • Support Supervisors, Managers and employees in resolution of safety and environmental issues.
  • Identification and resolution of safety hazards and risks as well as incident and accident investigations
  • Preparation of material for audits both internal and external (Customer and External Auditors) as well as support during audits.
  • Deliver EH&S orientations to new employees and On-Site Contracted Workers
  • Deliver safety training – general monthly training as well as equipment or area specific (crane, forklift, etc.)
  • Plan and implement programs to train Supervisors, Managers and Employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
  • Participate on the JHSC, provide recommendations, guidance and education to Committee
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement of the SMTC H&S Program and deliverables.
  • Ensure Company is compliant with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Lead environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Support and participate in Company wellness initiatives and programs
Your profile
  • Related education preferably a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences or the equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in a Health and Safety Specialist/ Coordinator or Advisory role in an Industrial environment
  • CRSP certification
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee Member Certification
  • Understanding of legislative requirements and Provincial OH&S Acts
  • Demonstrated experience with policy development as well as training program creation and roll out
  • Exemplary communication skills
  • Previous development and promotion of Health and Wellness initiatives
  • Experience with accident investigation
