Principal Director
JOB PURPOSE
Strategize the vision and mission of the Office of Administrative Services (OAS) and determine the program and activities it should undertake in support of the mission and business strategy of ADB. Lead the planning, implementation, and supervision of the Office’s goals and work programs in support of achieving effectiveness, efficiency and responsiveness. Anticipate the Office’s resource requirements and priorities and allocate accordingly. Manage a range of long term issues of strategic importance and with long term implications for the direction and performance of ADB.

- The following staff positions may be supervised by the incumbent:
- Administrative Staff
- National Staff
- International Staff
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree, or equivalent, in Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related fields. University degree in Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related fields combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Work experience
- At least 15 years of relevant experience within the field at senior levels (e.g. managing large teams)
- International experience working in several countries
Technical Knowledge
- Has proven senior management experience with a large and diverse organization covering a region and multiple sectors / practices, providing direction as the head of Department
- Possesses cumulative knowledge, experience and fundamental understanding of diverse concepts, principles and practices, and able to share knowledge to benefit ADB and the wider international community
People and Leadership Skills
- Sound planning, managerial and administrative skills together with superior interpersonal and negotiating skills, and demonstrated performance in creating, motivating and leading diverse teams of highly qualified professionals
- Able to manage and motivate staff performance and career development in a diverse workforce, as well as establish a constructive work environment to maximize staff engagement and optimize staff potential
- Directly deal with situations of staff non-performance or breaches of ADB Code of Conduct
- Able to develop and drive change management strategies to obtain buy-in from staff and guide the Department towards the desired direction
- Be a role model of ADB’s core values to the Department as well as ADB-wide
- Act as a mentor to staff, providing guidance and advice
- Act as a coach to develop capabilities/potential of staff
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
