Information Technology Specialist

The Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) seeks to make the following appointments:

Information Technology Specialist

The incumbent will oversee all computer hardware and software infrastructure as per the operational plan.
Minimum requirements: * Degree in Computer Science or equivalent * Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer * Experience in web design * Knowledge of Microsoft networking * Working knowledge of Great Plains will be advantageous * At least 5 years' relevant working experience.
Key performance areas: * Serve as technical specialist for the development, implementation, management and support of computer systems and networks * Maintain the local area network * Maintain user hardware and software * Maintain the security of servers * Maintain the accounting system * Provide technical support to system users * Schedule upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems * Maintain and keep the MHSC's telecommunication systems running with minimal downtime (phones, web services, facsimile) * Support legacy desktops, laptops and servers * Evaluate new hardware and software to meet company requirements * Maintain an inventory of internal licences and track compliance.

Preference will be given to candidates from the designated groups, whose selection will enable the MHSC to achieve its equity targets and strategic objectives.
