Objectives

To execute its mandate of contributing to the individual and collective economic and social development of its regional member countries and to fulfill the mandate given to it by the African Union to support the NEPAD initiative, the African Development Bank Group established the NEPAD, Regional Integration and Trade Department (ONRI) entrusted with the tasks of: articulating Bank leadership to the NEPAD initiative and regional integration efforts, promoting regional integration on the continent, developing innovative strategies to facilitate the integration agendas of the different sub-regions, and bridging the infrastructure gap.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director and in close collaboration with the Division Managers, the incumbent’s duties and responsibilities will be as follow:

  • Contribute to preparation and the monitoring of the Annual and Multi Annual Work Programme of the department in order to optimize the resource utilization;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Departments Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensure their consistency with Complex level KPIs and prepare regular status reports and annual activity reports;
  • Manage budget and keep the portfolio of Regional Operations database of the department (active and pipeline projects, policy papers and knowledge products);
  • Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of the quarterly mission schedules and collate related data for reports;
  • Ensure a close follow-up of the department activities and regularly update work programmes on the basis of established processing schedule;
  • Carry out analysis of supervision data, disbursement ledgers, loan cancellation data in the department portfolio; carry out analysis to improve the department portfolio and in particular report on the performance of activities of projects at risk;
  • Follow-up on borrower’s fulfillment of the general and specific conditions applicable to loans and grants, for example, audits;
  • Coordinate preparation of the multi annual administrative budget and follow-up of its execution; participate in identification of resource requirements for submission and administration of the budget; recommend if necessary, the reallocation of funds; coordinate data and information on partnership agreements and the use of trust fund resources;
  • Keep up to date information for exchange with partnership agencies and institutions such as bilateral donors (DFID, EU, CIDA, etc.) and multilateral/international organisations (World Bank, WTO, IMF, UNECA, etc.);
  • Disseminate information and liaise with internal/external communication parties as well as manage the website’s content and ensure circulation of quarterly newsletter;
  • Provide inputs to diverse operational products/outputs (e.g. briefing notes, background reports and case studies);
  • Play the role of SAP resource person in the department; provide technical assistance to staff of the department in the use of SAP-PS.

Selection Criteria

  • At least a Master’s Degree in Economics, Business Management or in a related discipline;
  • Preferably a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in conducting research, analyzing and synthesizing information, producing reports, and direct relevant experience on managing budgets and trust funds;
  • Demonstrated client orientation, interpersonal and report writing skills;
  • Ability to work within a team of staff from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds;
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in English and/or French, with a good working knowledge in the other language
