Adviser, Small States (Two posts)

Now is the time to make the most of your expertise by developing, progressing and managing programmes which encourage international policies, mechanisms and rules to be more responsive to small states’ development strategies and resilience needs. Collaborating with colleagues as well as ministries, agencies, professional bodies, regional and international development partners and organisations, you will be involved in providing policy, technical and institutional support.

To this role you will bring ten or more years’ experience in analysis and policy formulation on the development of small states, including resilience building and sustainable development, trade and development financing. This will have given you in-depth knowledge of the governance agenda in international development thinking and practice; the alignment of national planning, resilience building and sustainable development approaches; and network building within small states, the Commonwealth and the wider international development community.

Your experience must be supported by a post-graduate degree on economics, or closely related field; familiarity with contemporary development and public administration and institutional frameworks; undertaking research and analysis; building partnerships and networks with international organisations; and the ability to work independently and effectively even when under pressure and time constraints.

To be considered, you must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country.

Our aim is to provide sustainable and people-centred development through professional advice, transfer of best practice and the enhancement of skills and knowledge. This is an exciting time to join us. We have created this outstanding opportunity to help small state member countries to survive and prosper in the global economic environment and to give the successful candidate the opportunity to make a valued contribution to that process.
