Director, Policy & Performance

IPPF is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all.  We are a world-wide movement of national organisations working with and for communities and individuals.
The Director, Policy and Performance will be responsible for oversight of our Governance function, including policy development; and learning, and performance improvement. You will work closely with our Director-General and have the support of a multi-disciplinary team managed by senior specialists. You will lead policy direction across the Federation and oversee the policy development process, ensuring that IPPF policies are adopted by Governing Council, and implemented by Member Associations. You will ensure that governance is carried out in line with IPPF’s Act and Regulations and that the accreditation of Member Associations is achieved in accordance with IPPF’s standards. With international travel you will forge strong relationships with senior Volunteers and Board members, nurturing their commitment and expertise. You will foster IPPF as a learning organization through robust monitoring and evaluation; informing on global reporting; and developing mechanisms and programmes to ensure that learning informs capacity building and performance improvement. You will lead on management systems development that supports institutional and financial sustainability. With strong conceptual and analytical skills you will devise structures and opportunities to stimulate innovation, and ground-breaking programmatic approaches through seed funding.
You are a senior leader in international development in a complex organization, ideally in global health, with significant experience in one or more of three areas: governance, policy development; learning and performance improvement and capacity building based on monitoring and evaluation. You are an experienced executive team / Board member with a track record working with civil society or volunteer-based organizations and of developing institutional and financial sustainability. You have a track record of organizational transformation and innovation in programme and policy development. That includes experience in performance improvement and the use of data to drive decision-making. A working knowledge of the use of IT tools to improve performance and performance measurement systems is required.
You are a seasoned people manager of multi-disciplinary teams. You have strong project management skills to deliver projects on time, to budget and to a high standard. You have sound judgement and political acumen, with a high level of cultural acuity, and excellent verbal and written communication skills to include strong influencing skills and the ability to drive change. Fluent English is essential and other languages are desirable.  You have a post-graduate degree or equivalent standard of education in a social, economic, or health sciences field.
