Project Manager: World Humanitarian Summit Youth Congress 2016
arche noVa - initiative for people in need is a religiously independent non-profit- and non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Dresden/Germany. We are primarily working in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our focus is on Water and Sanitation. We are engaged worldwide, especially in providing sustainable access to clean drinking-water and with prevention programmes to support the health of people in less developed countries in the field of sanitation and hygiene. Next to humanitarian emergency aid, reconstruction and development cooperation, we are also engaged in Germany with our development education programme.

In a three day congress in Berlin in preparation of the World Humanitarian Summit 2016, about 100 young committed participants will discuss the current challenges and trends of international humanitarian aid. Talks, workshops, discussion forums and a world café will be held. The participants will meet representatives of European NGOs, UN organisations, international partners, persons affected by catastrophes, politicians, sponsors and scientists. They will get an intense insight into humanitarian issues, network, get in contact with key stakeholders and act as multipliers for their peers. They will learn to understand the structure of international cooperation in the field of humanitarian aid and will be able to follow the reporting about the WHS in a professional way. They will be empowered to open own forums and spread news on the topic in social media. At the end of the conference a resolution will be drafted by the participants which will be presented to the UN special representative for WHS.
In order to take the lead of this project we are looking for a project manager in our office in Berlin from September 2015 till April 2016:
Responsibilities:
· Organization of the 3 day congress with roundabout 100 participants in Berlin
· Acquisition of participants and consultants
· Public Relations
· participation in the WHS Youth Conference in Qatar in September 2015
· participation in the Youth Led Task force – a Online-networking platform on the World Humanitarian Summit
· attendance at informal/networking meetings of German players during the WHS process
· Knowledge transfer about current trends into the arche noVa Team
· Controlling of the financial budgets and deduction of subsidies
Requirements:
- A relevant College or University degree (project management, humanitarian aid, international relations) or/and practical work experience afield of humanitarian aid
- Knowledge in the domain of event organization and project management
- Very good language skills of German an English
- Competency in social media
- Ability to work independent, structural and self-dependent
- Because of the eligibility requirements of the WHS Youth Conference: be 30 years or younger (by the start of the Job)
It is a part-time contract (25 hour per week). The salary is based on the german “TVÖD Entgeldgruppe 8”
For the time being, it is an 8-month fixed term contract based in Berlin.
