Director of Ethiopia's Agricultural Transformation Agency

Synergos has been providing support to the Gates Foundation and the Ethiopian government to create an Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), a government agency. As part of this work, we are recruiting internationally senior staff for the Agency, including a Director for Agricultural Extension and Research. The Director should have experience in and knowledge of agricultural development and extension and research systems in Asia (particularly India and East Asia) and will be based in the Agency’s office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The ATA was created by the Prime Minister at the start of the year to catalyze large scale, sustainable change that advances Ethiopia’s agricultural development strategy. In short, the Agency will lead problem-solving efforts, support implementation, and enhance linkages and coordination of efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and other key stakeholders. The Agricultural Extension and Research program is among the main focus areas for the Agency, and will develop innovative, market-oriented, agro-ecologically adaptive and financially sustainable systems that meet the needs of smallholder farmers.
