Economist II

PNC is a Fortune 500 financial services company. We're strong and now the sixth largest bank by deposits in the U.S. But that doesn't mean we speak in banking lingo or hide behind spreadsheets. In fact, it's our down-to-earth approach with customers that's put us on the map--in 15 states and the District of Columbia, plus offices nationwide.

We see how work/life balance, green initiatives, a family-friendly outlook, and social responsibility make for happier employees. And happy employees make for very happy customers.

As an employee of PNC Financial Services Group, you become part of an organization committed to customers, employees, investors, and the communities in which we do business. PNC is an established, growing and successful financial services company, with businesses organized around retail and commercial banking, asset management, and funds processing. Our branches are concentrated in thirteen states and the District of Columbia; additional offices are located nationwide and internationally. We are growing in size and through recent acquisitions have become the fifth largest bank by deposits in the US. We are also growing in reputation, as a leader in areas such as work/life family culture, "green" building design, frontier technology, and strong corporate social responsibility.

As an Economist II, you are a member of PNC's Economic department. The position's primary responsibilities include analyses of regional (PNC footprint market areas) economic conditions and real estate and other key industry conditions, and provide recommendations from such analyses to the Chief Economist and other colleagues. In your role you develop clear and informative analyses of regional and industry conditions and forecasts for internal and external audiences. You are also responsible for generating ideas which can be converted into economic research and analysis with the objective of enhancing PNC's profitability and/or competitive position.

You will use your excellent communication skills to make written and verbal presentations of regional and industry economic analyses and forecasts for use by Senior Management, PNC clients and media relations. You will maintain contacts with public and private industry sources to obtain economic and financial data as inputs for analysis and forecasting.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

* Graduate Degree in Economics or similar field. An advanced degree in Economics is required to understand economic relationships and economic model building statistical techniques.

* Econometrics and Statistical Model building skills; experience with Eviews preferred or similar econometrics packages. Demonstrated knowledge of business software, including spreadsheet, word processing applications and analytical/economics related software required.

* At least three years experience in regional and industry analysis and research.

* Analytical and independent thinking are required.

* Effective oral and written communications skills. Ability to effectively communicate with economist colleagues and non-economists throughout the corporation.

* Strong presentation skills with ability to present to PNC customers, non-PNC organizations and regional media representatives.

As part of our commitment to balance, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, with both full- and part-time benefits designed to provide high-quality coverage at affordable costs. We understand the importance of health and wellness, fair salaries, time away, and opportunities to learn and grow.
