REPORTING TO The Israel Project's Washington-based Executive Director, North America, and in cooperation with TIP's Jerusalem-based Director for Arabic Media, the Senior Advisor for Diplomacy and Peace will work with a team of professionals committed to using opportunities in the Arab world to create an environment for people-to-people peace between Israel and a future Palestinian state. Arabic fluency skills are required.RESPONSIBILITIES include helping to educate leaders about the need to end the culture of hate in Arab textbooks, official documents and in Arabic language media and replace it with open and unbiased coverage of, and content about, Israel. A significant part of the job will be to raise awareness about the need to end the culture of hate and replace it with a culture of hope.
Day-to-day implementation of TIP's people-to-people peace efforts to encourage U.S. officials and Ambassadors from donor countries to Arab nations as well as diplomats from Arab countries to allow and encourage the freedom to show the real Israel in Arab society.
Candidate must be devoted to educating global leaders and Arabic language reporters about the facts concerning Israel and its commitment to peace and Arab rights. ing, research, polling and direction.
Qualification:
- Minimum of 7 years diplomatic, government or media and Middle East experience required
- fluent spoken, written and reading in Arabic and English required
- Legal working status for the U.S. (position is based in Washington required
- Capitol Hill or Administration experience and contacts helpful
- During times of war and crisis, willingness to work in a 24/7 dynamic news environment
- Experience in media/public relations/advocacy/spokespersons work
- Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft office suites programs, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint plus Adobe PDF
- Proficiency in utilizing the Internet for research and outreach
- Experience utilizing an online data base and data management skills preferred
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly with an eye fr detail in a deadline-driven environment
- Must be committed to Israel's security and to a better future for all in the region
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required; preferably in the disciplines of journalism or communications; master's degree preferred.
