INTRODUCTION
Central Africa Investment S.A. (“CENAINVEST”) is a private equity fund from Cameroon investing in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in the Central African Region. CENAINVEST is looking to expand its activities into the Agriculture sector with a focus on crop farming and is looking for an Investment Officer / Agriculture Specialist to lead the investment activities in this sector.
The position will be full-time and will be based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The expected start date is January 2012.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
The Agriculture Specialist will have a number of areas of responsibility.
1. Improving and Developing of Existing Agriculture Projects in Portfolio
Cenainvest has invested in a number of existing projects (poultry and food-processing). The Investment Officer / Agriculture Specialist will be responsible to follow-up on the activities and support the investee companies with technical and financial advice.
2. Sourcing New Investment Opportunities for the Fund
The Investment Officer / Agriculture Specialist will be responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities. (S)he will be expected actively to develop a network in the Agriculture sector in Cameroon, including with relevant governmental agencies and institutions.
3. Coordinating the Investment Process
The Investment Officer / Agriculture Specialist will be in charge of coordinating the investment process, which includes leading negotiations on the investment terms, preparing and presenting investment proposals to the Investment Committee, concluding the investment and ensuring a timely exit. (S)he must closely monitor all investments made and provide value-added guidance and expertise to developers.
PROFILE
The Investment Officer / Agriculture Specialist will have an advanced degree in the area of finance and relevant professional experience in the Agriculture sector in Sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on crop farming.
He/she will have an entrepreneurial attitude, strong financial structuring and a sound understanding of the Agriculture dynamics from a technical and financial perspective.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior work experience in (Central) Africa and a working knowledge of French.
