ACF-Spain, as part of the ACF International network, is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non confessional and non-profit organization created in 1979. Their vocation is to combat hunger, misery and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working in our International Network. Action Against Hunger is present in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.
ACF-Spain seeks to expand its team of Head of Mission for current and future vacancies in those geographical regions which are competence of ACF.
He/She ensures monitoring of the strategy, seeking to maintain the quality and relevance of the actions carried out. Thus the capacity for analysis, reading the context of dynamic processes, risks and trends underway in the area is the main instrument from which programs and projects are designed to manage responses to local requirements.
FUNCTIONS
- Establishment of the strategy and objectives of the mission : responsible for defining the Country Strategy and to ensure the quality and relevance, regarding ACF-Spain Mandate, of programmes and projects.
- Definition and financial monitoring of programmes: define a fundraising strategy to channel resources for the Country Strategy implementation and monitor the co-financing needs.
- Responsible for the safety of the team. Responsible for promoting a security culture for national and international staff security.
- Organization and coordination of the mission :lead the Coordination Team towards the Mission Strategic Objectives and Management Targets.
- Human resources management.
- Responsible to represent ACF in front of headquarters, national and local authorities, other NGOs and counterparts, embassies and donor agencies, and beneficiaries.
PROFILE
- Proved experience in similar functions (head of mission, General Coordinator, Country Director).
- Abilities in human resources management and coordination teams.
- Knowledge of strategies, methodologies, regulations, etc.. donors (EU, AECI, USA, UN, etc. ..) and high capacity of institutional representation and negotiation.
- Good knowledge of all phases of the project cycle.
- Experience in managing security on the field.
- Fluent in English, French and/or Spanish.
We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package.
REMUNERATIVE PACKAGE
- House and maintenance cover by the organization.
- Formal contract of work.
- Salary: from 2000€ to 3075 € gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience + responsibility plus (according to standard list of ACF – Spain).
- ACF- Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.
- Travel costs to and from the mission.
- Per Diems.
- 25 working days of holidays per year.
- One week of breaks, (including travel cost to the reference zone, and 200 Euros to pass the week of break).
- Travel and accident insurance and repatriation on account of the organization.
- Extra per month and per child (Under 18 years old).
REQUIREMENTS

Short listed candidates will have a face to face interview to be held in Madrid. For those candidates selected, all the travel costs will be refund when the first mission is assigned.
